Finding my paradise island in Thailand – Koh Kut Island. (16/07/17 to 21/07/17)

From the sleepy town of Trat we purchased tickets to Koh Kut Island, (also known as Koh Kood Island), which included transfers at both ends and a ferry cross over via the Princess Boat. The ferry looked a lot different to the picture… The sea was rough and the sky dark so my dream of reaching a secluded paradise island seemed far. Two hours later we arrived at our beach resort and settled into our wooden bungalow situated right on the beach now more hopeful as the weather cleared. From our porch I took in the sounds of the waves, admiring the white sand fringed with heavy coconut trees. That evening we took a moonlight walk on the beach, which was very romantic, until I got the fright of my life when I stood on a huge green, paradise tree snake. We watched it slither off and once I had calmed down we relaxed on the wooden swing beneath the moon listening to the sea and frogs make their sounds. I concluded I had indeed found paradise.

We spent our days exploring the island by scooter, visiting waterfalls, eating seafood, drinking pina coladas, taking wrong turnings and finding little seaside villages with giggling children running up and down their jetties. A tiny crying girl with huge cheeks clung to my legs. That evening I screamed in joy as the waves came at me. A perfect way to end my paradise island.
